Floppy and the Sleepy Planet is the project I'm currently part of as Animator. The project is a proud EPIC Mega Grants Recipient under the direction of Remi Crespo. I joined the team following the robust pipeline based in AAA Games.
Concept Art
I sketch out Action Sheets as references, those tasks are directly managed by the Animation Lead, with specifications of the Design Department and the Creative Director. These go into Syncsketch where our whole team gets a chance to review.
Blocking Pass
I start with primary setup, taking project needs and the correct Maya/Unreal usage and then I animate several clips in two main phases:
Blocking Pass: I Create key poses to establish timing, and acting until I'm comfortable with the results.
Advance Blocking Pass: Then I add more polish with tween frames, breakdowns and secondary motions.
Smooth Pass
After approval I move into smooth curves to sharp and clean all animation clips at the end those files will be exported into Unreal Engine for testing purposes and iterated as many times as necessary.
Other Roles
Testing: I'm allowed to play several builds in order to give feedback on gameplay elements, which are saved in forms for a database. It is a fresh task aside from my primary role, so it allows me to see the project from a design perspective and helps.
Content Creator: I was part of Floppy’s dev diaries for Patreon backers, writing dev notes of processes and facts about Animation, which were written in an informative way.
Testimonials
Pedro Giglio. Screenwriter at Brand New Wathever.
I had the honor and the opportunity to work with Alexis during the recently... started development phase for Toledot, a GameJam+ 2020/2021 submission. He has kept a notable balance in maintaining the team's original vision for the game while also allowing himself to remain open to new learnings and perspectives. His genuine curiosity and drive to learn more during our weekly meetings to discuss the story and plot-related elements made these enjoyable, exciting and kept my spirits up to deliver the best demo possible. Alexis is warm, friendly and I certainly look forward to working with him again in the future.
Rodrigo Cuadriello. Director at Seashell Studio.
Alexis is a great game developer, with a hi-end focus on keeping a project achievable.... He's been working at Seashell Studio in several roles including, 3D Artist, Game Designer, Animator, and Project Manager. I've been working with him for 3 years, and can safely say that he's been passionate, well organized, and most of all; a true team player.
